some students do not come to secondary school with the numeracy they require to progress to the key stage 3 curriculum. these ks3 materials are designed to help secondary teachers teach those primary numeracy skills with the aim of enabling those students to be able to access the secondary curriculum.
explore 'place value' to see a complete unit of building numeracy resources and powerpoint presentations. these comprehensive materials can be used by a maths or non-specialist teacher or by a ta to develop numeracy skills and confidence in students who are not yet at the expected level for their year group.
each building numeracy unit contains a week’s worth of teaching for students who need to build their understanding of numeracy. every aspect of numeracy is explicitly explained, so they can be taught by a teacher or a ta. it will take 2 terms to get through all the material, or select the units relevant to your students.
